A composite filling, also known as white filling, is used to repair a tooth that is affected by decay, cracks, fractures, etc. The decayed or affected portion of the tooth will be removed and then the composite material will be precisely placed, shaped, and polished in order to restore your tooth to its original shape and function.

Dental X-rays are a vital tool in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of dental problems. They are essential in order to see areas above and below the gum line that are not visible with the naked eye, such as: Cavities, infections, bone loss, cysts or possible cancerous lesions, anatomic structures (sinuses, TMJ and nerves).

Traditional X-rays use a small piece of film that is run through a series of toxic chemicals to allow the image to form. Digital X-rays do not use film.

Our clinic utilizes the latest in X-Ray technology: Digital X-Rays.

Digital radiography has many advantages, such as:

  • Less Radiation: Digital X-rays use up to 6 times less radiation than traditional film X-rays.
  • Better Quality: The quality of the image is much higher and can be enhanced to improve viewing.
  • Environmentally friendly: There’s no need to develop the X-Ray with harmful chemicals that create toxic waste for the environment.
  • Shorter Appointments: Digital X-rays use a sensor that develops and projects the image onto the computer screen in a few seconds.
  • Simplified Transferring: Digital X-rays can be emailed to a dental specialist for immediate review.
  • Storage: The image will be electronically stored.

A dental extraction is the removal of a tooth from the mouth. It is needed when there is no other option to treat the affected tooth. It can also be needed for orthodontic reasons.

A root canal treatment is needed when the blood or nerve supply of the tooth (known as the pulp) is infected by decay or an injury. In order to save the tooth, the pulp, nerves, bacteria, and any decay are removed and the resulting space is filled with special, medicated, dental materials which restore the tooth to its full function.

A bridge is a fixed dental restoration used to replace a lost tooth/teeth without the use of a denture or a dental implant. In order to fabricate a bridge, the adjacent teeth are prepared by reducing their size to make room for the prosthetic dental restoration.

A dental crown is a cap that completely covers your existing tooth and is held in place by dental cement. A crown may be used to protect a tooth that has a large filling or a crack, which endangers the overall health of the tooth or to cover a tooth that has undergone a root canal treatment.

A denture is a removable dental appliance replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissue. It is made of acrylic resin, sometimes in combination with various metals. They are made to closely resemble your natural teeth. Complete dentures replace all the teeth, while a partial denture fills in the spaces created by missing teeth and prevents other teeth from changing position.

Dental Devices

A mouthguard is worn to provide protection for the teeth and jaw, for the lips, cheeks and gums by absorbing and redistributing the forces generated by traumatic blows. Custom-made mouthguards are the most protective and comfortable type of guard. They are highly recommended for any sport where player contact is present.

You can customize the design of your mouthguard by choosing a color, drawing, text or logo to be on your mouthguard.

A nightguard is a custom-made appliance which is highly recommended for people who have Bruxism. Bruxism is the dental term for teeth grinding and clenching. Grinding and clenching the teeth may cause wear of the enamel of the teeth, fractures of the teeth, recession of the gums, bone loss around the teeth and TMJ (jaw joint) disorder.

People who grind/clench their teeth usually have other symptoms such as headaches, ear, neck, facial or jaw pain. Grinding usually occurs during the night because it is a subconscious neuromuscular disorder. Clenching can occur during both the day and night.

The use of a nightguard prevents further breakdown of the tooth structure and it also helps relax the TMJ (jaw joint) muscle, muscles of the face, head and neck thus preventing excess strain and discomfort. The nightguard trains the joint to relax and relieves pressure.
